15 wk legbar wheezing hasn’t eaten or drank

My daughter pointed out one of our leg bars “Rona“ was making a wheezing sound this morning and not leaving the coop. I went out to look and she indeed was wheezing slightly and acting sluggish. I removed her from the other chickens and gave her freshwater and feed in a separate cage. I’m going to go get some antibiotics. I’ve never had one of my chickens in the five years of owning them Be sick, so I’m not sure exactly what to do. hopefully someone can help me!

Hi Tinkrcow, Ive had chickens do the same thing. What worked was massaging their gullet, lower neck area, for a few minutes. I felt a firm roundness there. Don't know if this is the problem, but Ive done it a few times with success. Hope this helps. Mousemeat

I did that a few minutes ago. Did it help right away? I got her some electrolytes but the tractor supply didn’t have any vetrx. she sounds worse now and hasn’t eaten or drank anything that I can tell

We have 2 chickens doing almost the same thing since this past Saturday! But we just got these chickens about a week ago. Would you please post an update if the antibiotics help; we don't know what we are doing here.

She passed away last night. My girls are Devastated.

Sorry for your loss. If you can keep her body in a plastic garbage bag chilled in a cooler, you can contact your state poultry lab for a necropsy and testing to help identify what respiratory disease she had. Here is a list with your state vet to contact:
