1588 Genesis Incubator issues

Those actually look perfect. Run a hatch and see if the chicks are on time or not. Then decide whether to adjust it. Adjusting these things is a pain so I don't suggest it unless you have to. I still haven't gotten good instructions on how to lower mine a degree. It does save me some days of impatience though since I'm setting seramas. Extra heat plus a breed that hatches early anyway gets you chicks nearly a week early.

I'm sure my hatch rate is suffering though.

Mine did the same. It's a cheap thermometer and should throw it into the trash. Did you read the label on top of the machine. It's basically tells you that the thermometer is garbage, and that you should try to hatch first before adjusting the machine. BTW mine is also at switch number 4. I've purchased a thermometer/hygrometer for 7 bucks at walmart. Works like a charm for me. Be aware that this one can be a little bit off too.

I wouldn't touch a thing... Looks like your average is just right. Even new, it says to leave the adjustments alone and don't change a thing unless you get bad hatches. My thermometers fluctuate, but I get superb hatch rates.

I recently had that same issue. I bought my second Genesis and when I plugged it in the temp never got above 83. It came with toggle 4 preset from the factory. After messing around with it all weekend I called GQF on Monday morning. I spoke with a gentleman named Willy who said he had never heard of it behaving in this way. Asked me a few questions and then deduced I needed a whole new thingy. Fan and thermostat. They shipped it out that day and I got it today (Wed) I took off the 4 screws, replaced the thingy and badda bing......it works great. Took longer for me to find the dang screwdriver than it did to replace it. They were extremly helpful and nice at GQF especially considering I bought it off ebay.

Yup, they were great for me as well, even though I didn't purchase it straight through them. My turner motor blew and they replaced it immediately, no muss, no fuss. GREAT company to work with.

Same here, the turner motor blew up and they shipped a replacement right away. Those motors are made in China, so I guess they are used to it.

I have 2 Genesis. I would leave it right where you are. I alway hatch at 100 - 100.5. Hatching starts on day 20 for me.

Also if you need to up it 1/2 a degree you just turn 4 off and turn 5 on. Not difficult at all!!

I have the same bator, always get a great hatch...and have some in right now that are due the 4th...lots going on in the eggs, so the bator is still working. I also have a digital and Mercurial thermometer. Difference is, my digital reads a bit higher than my other, but are very close. I think you will do fine. Have fun!

Try and keep the temperature a the pre-set level. Alternatively adjust it to level 5. A good thermometer is critical - you wouldn't go on a hike with great boots but a terrible backpack.

The GQF Model 1588 is an exceptional hobby incubator. GQF are very loyal to their products and are always willing to help.

Let us know when the eggs start hatching!

The temp is still hanging around the high 98˚ low 99˚

My humidity is at 60% though and I can't get it down!!
