Am I correct in my guess that she is a black sexlink? She was sold as a "speckledy" (RIR X Maran) but she doesn't look like any of the pictures I've seen of that breed. I Google lensed her, and she seems to be a black sexlink, but I figured I would ask some chicken experts rather than just go off of Google lens, as we all know that isn't always the most accurate :p

Sorry for the poor quality pictures, my chickens never stay still for pictures, lol.

The cross would be very similar to a BSL if you used a RIR over Cuckoo Marans (some Marans were bred to have clean legs). I don't know how you would tell the difference besides possibly laying a *slightly* darker egg than a BSL. I could be wrong, though, so hopefully others can help, too. She is very pretty!

I have only had close to what I think is the same cross as yours (a little Speckled Sussex thrown in there) and they lay eggs that look almost exactly like that (she's a Cuckoo Marans/RIR-SS).

I don't think BSLs are typically known for their speckled eggs, but there are probably variations within any breed, especially hybrids, but looks more like Marans/RIR egg to me.

Thank you so much for all your help!
