16/8 Intermittent Fasting, has anyone tried it?

My 2 cents - even if you can't do the hardcore/entire thing the "right way", doing SOMETHING is better than doing nothing. I have lost 16 lbs (that's a lot given my 5' 1" frame) over the course of the last year with very low effort...I was not even paying attention to the weight, really, but I started noticing my "fat pants" were too big. Now I am back to my previously normal weight.

All I did was:
- stop buying potato chips and other junk foods, because I have no self control if it's in the house
- tried to cut down on sugar (which goes with my first point, really)
- cut down portions a bit
- stopped eating anything after my dinner (and my dinner is early)
- try to hold off a little on eating first thing in the morning (I have my one cup of coffee, and yes, I use a little sugar and creamer - not the perfect thing to do, but I will not drink black coffee, so.....). I do have to eat a morning meal or I get light-headed, but I no longer eat as soon as I get up

I'd say typically my fast ends up being 12-14 hours, depending on how long I can hold off my morning meal. I don't even think about it or count hours, I just have a new routine now.

Ditching chips was difficult for me the first week or so, but after that I just stopped craving them - the key is do not have them in the house...that makes it easy - you can't eat it if it does not exist.
Excellent advice! Eating well can be done in many ways. Little adjustments can make a huge difference in our health.

My son in law and I were looking at the various protein powders on the internet this evening. Most seem to be quite high in sugar and obviously concentrate on the high protein low calorie formulations.
I prefer to eat real food as this is a lifestyle change. One change I adopted is trading chips for blackberries and walnuts/almonds while I read, I have been doing that for 2 years, now it's a habit.

I would love to eat real food but to get the 3000+ kCalories I need to put on weight, I would be forever cooking and I can't stand cooking.:p

My hubby is 6'5" and has trouble getting enough to eat so he doesn't lose weight. He has to constantly eat and it annoys him. :D I bet he needs 2800+ calories a day.

I hope everyone is doing ok :fl

I’ve resisted birthday cake today! Its the other halves birthday so I got him a cake but I’ve not touched it :clap A couple of times it was calling me to have a slice with a nice cup of T but I’ve stopped myself
Steady weight loss here of about 2lb per week. Would like to double it really so i guess we will see.....

That's fabulous Kim! I know exactly how hard it is to resist these tempting foods. Judd brought home a big fudge brownie today and I was firm...nope! Good for you!

2 pounds a week is a healthy amount to lose per week. And it adds up too, before you know it, you will hit your goal! :)

Anyone tried Konjac rice, noodles etc? Says low in everything including carbs apparently. All looks pretty bland so think I would need to add a sauce of some kind?
