Yes, I've tried 16/8 intermittent fasting. No, it did not work for me. I tried it for months, eating 1500 calories (the supposed ideal amount of calories for my goal weight), and I lost nothing.
What got me to lose weight was cutting my calories down and sticking to it. That's all, nothing special. I am 5'2" and I was 142 lbs, and my goal was 130 lbs. I dropped my calorie consumption from the 1500 recommended to around 1250. I went from 142 lbs to 130 lbs in a couple months. I took a long break of just eating the 1500 calories to maintain that, but now I'm trying to lose some weight again. Same thing, 1250 calories a day, then 1500 (well probably 1400 at a lower weight) to maintain. I'd like to be 115-120 lbs, like I was years ago. I'm at 126 lbs right now, so I think it's possible.
