16 years together but....

Your age and weight, that does sound like a creeper! Have a nice day!

Maybe they were asking because some farm tasks can't be accomplished by the elderly or obese, but it does sound creepy. You end up on the news after you were kept as a sex slave for 12 years locked in a basement somewhere.

Legally, an employer cannot ask your age nor your weight. Moron. You don't need that crazy crap (noun edited for BYC)..

This whole thread just breaks my heart (for you). I sure hope you find a way out....we all have our struggles - life is not easy...BUT he does not sound like a keeper.

You deserve to be valued and treasured for the beautiful person that you are.

Remember that your children are watching.....if you have daughters, they will think this is how men "should" treat women.....if you have sons, they will model their father's behavior. Why would they do anything else? They know nothing else.

I wish for you peace, strength, and a job that you like :)

Hugs.

While this is true, a job that is paid under the table and not taxed is also not bound by quite the same set of laws...It is best to get an actual job with paperwork and what not, at least in my experience. I have seen too many times people get messed around by their bosses simply because it isn't legal written employment, but under the table jobs. they can choose to not pay, they can change how much you get paid, so on and so forth.

There is also a chance that once you have a job your husband will start to see you differently and appreciate the things you were doing. And there is a good chance you will feel better with everything so the things that he might do won't seem as terrible...but I would have to say get a job and get out of there...or even find a friend and get out until you can find a job if he gets much worse. Does he drink? Because alcohol makes these kinds of things spin wildly out of control quick.

why is it that you won't take a cashier job?
it would get you 'out' and also put you in a position to do some 'networking' which is how most jobs are found these days ---

And any job just about is better than staying at home at this point having to take someone else's crap to such a degree. Just getting out and working will make you feel better. I can totally understand the issue with needing to make enough to cover gas and how that is hard and has to be accounted for. The car we have that I drive most only gets 15 miles to the gallon..so I totally get that.

I have applied for the cashier jobs too. It is just frustrating that most of the time cashier is the first job recommended when a petite woman walks in. I can do other things too. I'll take what I can get though! If I can get the truck out today (snow and more snow on our 1/4 mile mtn driveway) I plan to check in with the babysitter I have lined up and apply for a couple more jobs I found out about yesterday. Happy cluckin...

Take a 'starter' job and then dazzle your employers with all you can do!
