Eggs are collected, I will set them tomorrow. Unfortunately the Chantecler eggs ended up being too old to set.

If you have room, I'd put them in anyway. Candle in a week and I'll bet you'll have some live ones! Last year I took some from the fridge nearing a month old, and granted, that's stretching the limits, but I still got about 1/3 of those to hatch.

Amazing. Okay, then, I guess I'll remove about a dozen of the BYMs and replace them with Chantecler. It would be nice to get some of them even if not all of them hatch.

I got 26 eggs set last night. One too many for my incubator. I'll have to turn it manually.

Just set 25 from my flock! They should be mainly EEs.
Also hatching some RIRs for the neighbor but they were all set about a week ago. Plus some duck eggs but I don't think they'll hatch in time for this. I can't wait! I'm guessing most of mine won't be fertile though, since I just moved the rooster to their pen a couple days ago and it's been rainy. But we'll see. I may throw in a few more blue eggs if I get any so this may not be my final count.

Just got home from our 700 mile round trip (so about 350 miles one way) to Columbus with 50 (!) Buckeye eggs

It really should be bedtime, so we'll set them tomorrow.

I also have 7 malines eggs under a broody, but I'm not sure if they count for the Easter hatch or not since they're due April 8.

Incubator set.
And 2 broodies volunteered for Easter!
First was early, second (her sister) right on time, so they each have a dozen.
Once the incubator hatches, those chickies will go under the on-time momma, Freckles. She'll love them all, hehe.
Chunky Orp'ish bottoms are my favorite broodies! Plus they are so sweet, I can pick them up and stick eggs under without getting pecked.

I had 2 incubators going, and chicks hatching in some, one year, and a hen was sitting on a couple of duck eggs. She ended up opening an egg, and denting another. I took the duck egg and put nail polish, and put it in the incubator with the just about to hatch chicks, since it had alot of moisture in incubator. Later I switched the dented egg to a different incubator, and eventually the egg hatched.

First time I've ever incubated eggs, should be a lot of fun! I set 23 late Thursday night in my NR 360.
