17th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-Along

I forgot that the easter hatchalong sets eggs to hatch the day before Easter, oops. At any rate we were out of town all day yesterday so I still would have had to set today anyway.

I have 56 eggs, 24 malines and 32 buckeye, going into the incubator. My malines are the dominant roosters, so I expect most if not all of the chicks to be malines and malines crosses. But I do have 2 buckeye cockerels out there, so there's a chance for pure buckeyes and sex linked buckeye/malines.
Love the date stamp on the eggs! Adding that idea to my arsenal.

Thanks! We got it because we donate our extra eggs to the local food pantry and they asked if we knew when the eggs were laid. We had a rough idea (within a few days) but this way we can tell them exactly when they were laid!

Do you have a link for the stamp you use?

Would food coloring work as ink? I don't think the black would show up on my darker eggs.
I don't know. The gel kind might, especially if you add a little water and use an absorbent pad. We're just using the stamp pad that came with it. There's tons of different kinds of ink out there though.

Yes! Our set dates are for having an Easter Day (April 4) hatch.

For this hatch-along and associated contests, it includes all eggs hatched on 3/21 through 4/18.
oh joy!! My run will hatch within that date range.
I’m in:wee
