17th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-Along

1 Cream Legbar piped and the other was making noise when I checked an hour ago. 3-4 Olive eggs are piped . . 1 I can't tell if its a pip or a scratch on the egg.

CPs and BTR have wiggled a bit and I hear peeping, but no pips so far.

In the CLs and OEs incubator only 2 OE eggs are still quiet, the rest have pipped or they're making noise.

The BTRs and CPs have gone quiet.

2/2 Cream Legbar eggs, 4/7 Olive Eggs and 1 Crele Penedesanca in the second incubator are all pipped.

Interesting turn of events...

I collected eggs this morning and they sat in the basket on the counter for a couple of hours while I went out to feed.

When I came back in to check and sort them I realized 5 of them were marked eggs from Socka's nest. They were next to her, not under her so I assumed they were freshly laid by the other girls when I grabbed them.

I candled them and they seem like they're developing, though it can be hard to say when I'm not entirely sure when Socka went broody, less than 10 days of development . . . from what I can see.

I had a incubator free so, naturally, I popped them in . . . I'll check them in a few days and see if they're still developing. If they're still developing I'll pop them back under Socka in a few days.

I'm curious if she kicked them out because she knows they're duds, or if she's just a confused 1st time broody.

I can't wait because this is my first hatch

I'm getting an incubator Friday and hatching up to 12 chicken eggs that are layed that day. They should hatch around the 24th.

SPOILER ALERT
That same Friday, I will post a food themed Hatch-Along. These eggs will be fertile fresh from my hens that day. (I know this because I get fertile eggs every day.) I will also add in the Hen's name and breed and the possible roosters (same with name and breed) based off which roosters like which hens.

In one incubator both Cream Legbars hatched and 6/7 olive eggs have pipped.

In the second incubator still only 1 CP pipped out of 9 eggs.

Mone are due on Sunday, we just went into lockdown! We saw, or were pretty sure we saw anyway, movement in all 52 eggs going into lockdown.
