They look like they are doing great! With the shipped barnyard mixes, you said that you put them immediately into the incubator (i'm guessing big side up?) and waited 5days to turn on the turner, is that correct? I am very intrigued by this method since I haven't heard of it before. Did you then take them out of the turner on day 18 like usual for lockdown?

You are correct. They went right in (fat end up) and were unturned for 5 full days. Here is a link you'll probably find helpful. It's all about shipped eggs and detached air cells.

I laid them on their side for lockdown. Looking back I should have hatched them upright in egg cartons. I think it would have improved hatch rate. That's what I intend to do with all further shipped eggs (hatch upright ).
