18 week old chicken waterey eye shut closed and runny nose...

Hi i'm new to keeping chicken but have raised thses since they were 5 weeks old last night i noticed my black silky hen had a watery eye and nose and was lathergic not eating, tjhis morning it is closed and other eye watering her nose also has a discharge
My cock alsio appears to be starting with simalar symptoms
what could be the cause.
think it may be important to add that i was given 4 new hens from a friend who was moving and couldnt keep them 2 days ago
theres an open surgery at our vet later tonight but as were not generally a poulty area im not holding out much jope on info so any advice please

Sounds like some sort of upper respiratory infection. I would get some Duramycin or Tylan and give it to them for 3 - 5 days. Separate the ill ones, don't let the healthy one's use the same waterer. Make sure they don't get dehydrated, and give them some yogurt (nutrition and probiotic).

Should clear up in 5-7 days.

Smell the beak of the one with the runny nose, if it is fetid you might have Coryza.
