That’s so funny. We don’t let our chickens free range until they have laid their egg. So in the morning when their squawking to come out my husband says no you must earn your freedom around here. LOL. Then he goes inside and I open the door for them

I have a 20wo, she's red as hell, pelvic points are spread, haven't seen the cockbird mount her...she sure looks close and have seen her pacing a bit.

I remember my first egg last year, my White Leghorn, pacing was a good description, she was almost frantic just before laying that first egg.

I am waiting it out with 5 18 week olds I know they will start, when they do...
