I keep a close eye, checking nests pretty frequently, every couple hours if not more often....am a retired homebody.
Because I'm excited to see what colors my new crosses will lay, and to get them used to my presence in the coop.
I find it interesting to watch their behaviors, unless the cacophony drives me back into the house..haha!
Also to grab any soft or thin shelled eggs(can be common with new layers) before they are broken.....
...and pullets can have a tendency to lay elsewhere than the nests, so I like to get those picked up quickly.
