did you have pointed end down? the air cell is in the round end but if you set an egg pointed end up the air will move to the point. not saying you did...

Pipping at the pointy end can be a result of not turning enough. Of my latest hatch I had 2/6 pipped at pointy end, luckily they both made it. These were eggs that were scrambled in shipping so I had them pointy end down in a tray, did not turn them at all for 3 days then only turned about 30 degrees each way. This was clearly not enough!

Well congratulations! 10 chicks still seem pretty good from what I read.

We finished up with 3 eggs hatching! I was so surprised. One I thought was well and truly gone, but just suddenly burst out of the shell. It pipped, then within 2 hours was out. One of our eggs had quit around day 5, but the three that went into lock down all made it. Luckily for our first time we got a text book hatching.
