18week hen not moving and panting

Hey there, our 18week hen started not being able to judge distance to food 48hrs ago then yesterday afternoon started moving slow and head was drooping. When night came she won’t get up and is panting with clear liquid coming from her mouth. She’s pooping a yellow/clear poops. She’s very lethargic and unable to eat and drink. We gave her some corid meds last night in her water before she started really not moving but now is just laying down and panting all night long

She looks very ill. It looks like some yellow streaks in her watery poops which might be a sign of reproductive disorder or infection. Has she eaten or drunk water recently? I would check her vent and look for any swelling or enlargement of her lower belly under the vent. Is her crop empty and flat or does it feel full and firm or squishy? I would offer some sugar water (1 tsp per cup) or electrolytes up to her beak. Watery chicken feed or soft cooked egg can be offered. Let us know how she is doing in a bit. Welcome to BYC.

Thanks for responding she’s not taking water or food, she drank a little bit but not much. She has the clear mucus in her mouth . No fluid in crop

You can try to dip her beak in the water, or hold a spoonful to the side of her beak to drop some in. If you lose her, you could do a home necropsy or send her body kept cold, to your state vet for a necropsy. Here is a list of state vets to contact:

A bit late, but how is she?
