19 and a half weeks old and still no eggs :( egg countdown anyone??

One of my 5 ISA browns laid her first egg to day. 18 weeks old, which according to ISA's laying chart put her in the top 2% of hens. She probably won't be consistent for several more weeks, but for now I will bask in the glory.

I put one our guinea eggs in the nesting box yesterday. Today, every nest in the box showed signs of positioning and the last box had an egg.

I have fourteen 17-almost-18 week olds and someone gave me an egg yesterday!! (there were actually two, but one was shelless, so we cleaned that one up right away.) It had a very weak thin shell though

No eggs today :(
Ooh, make sure the girls are getting plenty of calcium, I got lucky none of my firsts were shell-less or very thin so that was nice.

We have been having a problem with ours laying in the coop. We have found piles of eggs in various places. We finally enclosed a portion of the barn (we normally free range) and have kept them locked up in there to try and retrain to lay in the coop. We have 6 that are supposed to be laying. We also have around 16 that should start laying now. Crossing fingers things will improve soon. Also have a broody hen laying on 5 eggs. Hoping to have babies in a week. yay!

my four girls are 20 weeks and my other four are 10 weeks. the older ones sometimes jump in the nesting box and then jump back out bt the younger ones are the ones that are sleeping in them they are full of poop and they all also peck and eat the wood shavings that are in the nesting boxes. I put golf balls in the nesting box to encourage them to lay but any time one of the older ones goes to sit in the box the four little ones go anf lay beside them like its a bed. i think the little ones might be discouraging them from laying eggs. but i dont know how to discourage them from sleeping in there because i want my older ones to use them.

We have 14 pullets that hatched from our roosters and hens this spring. They turned 19 weeks today. Yesterday two of the pullets squatted for me.

The nesting boxes have golf balls and/or wooden eggs in them and the pullets have been very interested.

The egg watch is on!!

If you have a lower perch for the younger girls to use it may help. At first though, because they are accustomed to sleeping in the nests, you'll have to put them on the perch at night until they do it on their own. Then they won't sleep in the nest anymore, you can clean them out and the older girls can use them for eggs.

I have 8 Golden Sex Links that are about 19-20 weeks give or take a day or two. I got 3 eggs today that were not much bigger than a golf ball. I found the first one this morning when I fed and watered my ladies. The other two I found this afternoon when I checked on them midday. All of the eggs were laid on the floor in the wood shavings. I put fake eggs in the egg boxes. I did notice activity in the egg boxes today. I put the eggs in the boxes with the fake ones. They figure it out in a week or so. This is my first flock in about 6-7 years. We had layer flocks in the past lots of times so this is kind of fun. Plus, I love fresh eggs.
