Blondiebee what is a AAA?

My eldest RIR is 24 weeks now, and looks about ready to pop - but I don't want to count my eggs before they're hatched, so to speak.

The other two RIRs are 19 weeks and don't have well developed combs yet, and they're joined by an Ameracauna I ended up renaming. She's very pretty but kind of mean, so I named her Kaswell, after the Drop Dead Diva character.

So, the great daily egg hunt is starting here soon :)
Hm, strange my Ameri, Xena is the sweetest one of our girls...It's so wierd, before I got chickens I was researching breeds and reading about all these traits that each tends to have, but I really think it depends on each individual chicken and how they are raised....just so cool how they have their own personalities.

Got two more eggs today!!! A green one and a brown one...!!!!! Yesterday, my Easter Egger hen layed her first egg, and she layed another today! Yeah! My barred rock hen waited about 5 days to lay another! I'm so egg-cited!!!!!!!!!!!! I've already got five eggs from 2 hens in 6 days! I think they are pretty good for beginners!

I also have a couple questions:

1. How long does it take for the egg to come out???
2. Will these chickens each lay once a day now?

Here I thought I had several weeks before my oldest pullets would be ready to lay eggs. But I just checked my calendar and see that I have 2 Black Cochin/mix pullets that are 24 weeks old, and 1 full blooded Blue Cochin. Only one of the mix breed Cochin has a red comb and looks ready to lay. She has been running away from the rooster. I do remember last years Cochins didn't lay until close to 6 months or maybe a little after 6 months. It'll be nice when they do start laying because right now only one of the hens in the Cochin house is laying.

They should lay pretty consistently once they get going but they will take a day or two off from time to time...I watched my SLW Silver actually lay an egg once, and it just popped out of her bum like no problem. She is older though...5 years or better.

Ok I have to share this because all my friends and family think i'm nuts.......Frankie and Francine layed their eggs side by side today in the nest boxes!!!

I spent the morning yesterday re-modeling them to make them more private, more padded, and upped the anti on fake eggs in each so they would be more appealing. They didn't even notice yesterday, just ignored my hard work and went to lay behind the shed. Well this morning they both used the boxes, two different ones(ha the ones with three fake eggs not the one with two) so we have some peer preasure persuasion happening(its a good thing in chickens I see).

P.S. thanks for reading my posts only chicken people understand my madness hee hee....
