19 and a half weeks old and still no eggs :( egg countdown anyone??

This is about the best I have heard anyone describe the feeling.   Love your story too! You must do some writing.
no, actually im a 911 operator/dispatcher by trade. Just can't contain the excitement! I though I was a few weeks off yet. Days are getting short, its chilly out, and the little darlings are about 17 weeks!

work of course, caused me to fall way behind in my reading... but the main thing about nightshade plants (tomato, pepper, potato {not sweet potato}, eggplant...) is that they are "inflammatory", but tomatoes and (bell) peppers have other properties that sort of help to reduce some of the inflammation...
So... if you are susceptible to inflammation; have RA, Celiac, Lupus, MS or other auto-immune diseases, they can make you not feel so good...
as far as feeding the fruit or veg, to the chickens, that's pretty much fine as long as they don't subsist on only these things... and none of us would only feed our babies tomatoes... the small amount of plant material they consume is inconsequential (most of the time)... these plants can cause photosensitivity... but since most chickens seem to prefer shade when the sun is super bright, IMO photosensitivity isn't that big of a problem

congrats to all y'all who are new egg recipients! mine turned 21 weeks yesterday, and still no eggs, but my BR's are looking really good, nice large fluffy butts and much bigger vents.

That would be exceedingly convenient! Though I don't suppose he really has time to sit all day waiting for all, what 55?, chickens to lay their daily egg.

It would be a big job. But he'd do it. "You scrub the waterers Leslie, I'm busy!"

We got 35 eggs today. Kind of surprised ourselves to find we have 9 dozen ready to sell, all arranged in the cartons with equal portions white, pink, brown and green/blue eggs. Yep, Nelson has agreed to part with some of the EE eggs. Duck eggs in the fridge are for us, along with the few jumbos and dark brown eggs. And the green/blue pee wees are just too cute to part with. Obviously we're not going to eat all those ourselves, so "we'd" better start being more generous about what we want to sell!

No bonfire dancing tonight, though. We need to tell the girls to slow down a bit. Our sweet Cuckoo laid this egg without a shell right at lights out tonight -- trying to meet her quota and get us to a full 3 dozen eggs in one day. He went in there to tuck them in, as one does, and noticed her acting distressed on the perch, so he offered to take a look at her bum for her, and this popped out right into his hand.

So now I'm thinking ... keep them all lined up on the perches, bums toward the center of the coop, and position Nelson in the middle with a catcher's mitt. They can just fire the eggs right at him and he can shuffle them straight into the cartons. And we won't need to build any more nesting boxes.
