19 and a half weeks old and still no eggs :( egg countdown anyone??

Hi guys, just wanted to turn in a report.
Of my 19 leghorns, 2 of them started laying last week. (@ 20 weeks old) Although the eggs are still a little small, we have had 12 eggs from these 2 girls in 7 days. They each took one day off. All the eggs have been smooth, but hard shelled. All with beautifully dark yolks! I switched to layer ration when they were 17 weeks. I also switched to Fermenting their feed and scratch together when they were 16 weeks. I really believe this has made a difference for their health, and the health of those eggs. It has also helped my feed bill, as there is NO wasted feed!
I need to check out that thread! keep hearing about FF and it sounds good!

I just need to DO it! I really want the best for our flock, but have been disorganized about getting started with FF. Shame on me.

You'll know squatting when you see it. I kept hearing people refer to it on this site, but didn't know what it was. The first time one of mine did it I thought she was just being nice and standing still to let us pet her. Then about a month later another one of my girls came into maturity and did it. It finally hit me that it must be what everyone describes as squatting. They crouch low to the ground and kind of stick out their wings from their bodies a little. One of mine stomps her feet too and looks quickly from side to side. All this chicken stuff is so fascinating!
That's too funny.... !! I don't have any stompers yet either. I do have a buttercup that flies up onto me any time i stand near her. I
cut her flight feathers to stop her roosting in the trees, but it didn't work, so i cut some more off them... still didn't work, she still
flies up on me!! I look like a pirate all the time with a bird on my shoulder!

I have 22 week ladies, i keep checking for eggs but nothing yet! owww its like waiting for a baby to be born

I finally got my first egg!!! laid by Wilma, a Barred Rock, she will be 23 weeks old on Friday...

this picture is more accurate for what it looks like, it is more long and narrow... Perfect!

I've missed it somewhere and must not be using the correct serch words......How do you make Fermented Food for the chickens? Is it JUST for broilers or any chicken? I did read they eat less and at the increasing prices of chicken food I'm looking for ways to save on the cost of food, but not to the determent of the birds. What is the link to read how to make/use FF?
