I moved one from behind her and it peeped and charolett acted like she was wanting ti protect it. so that's a good sign right.

ok so its raining here again this morning. what if she tries to take the babies out in the rain should I let her? also I nailed a board up in front of the nest she can get out but the babies cant. I need some advice on what to do now please. should I let her get them out of the nest in the rain? or will she keep them in????? HELP

Take the board off the nest and let her do her job. Chickens have been hatching and raising babies for thousands of years without human intervention. They haven't gone extinct yet. =)

one more question, should I get the babies some of the chick starter? EEEEK take the board off what if they fall out??? your right I remember being a kids and the hens would make their nest on the ground hatch the babies and I don't ever remember my dad buying any of that starter stuff.

Take the board off, let her nest on the floor with the babies, and get starter feed for all of them. Layer feed has too much calcium for the babies, but mama can have the starter.
