19 kids & counting....

Robin'sBrood :

Back to the topic of why the 19th Duggar baby was a premie... Michelle had gallbladder problems during the pregnancy and developed preeclampsia while in the hospital. Her blood pressure shot way up and they had to do an emergency c-section, when she was less than 25 weeks along with Josie. Michelle was 43 years old with that pregnancy and women over 40 have a higher risk of developing preeclampsia. I know because I'm living this right now.

That's sad about your grandmother. Sounds like she may have had an incompetent cervix (one that opens prematurely.) OBs are able to stitch those closed nowadays, so the pregnancy has a chance to go further along.

My problem with the Duggars is that they are raising their girls to be wed. That's all. The older girls raise the younger ones. The family declares their home to be a church so they are exempt from most taxes. I have a hard time believing that men are superior just because they have a dingle. Sigh........ Those girls should have a life before they are broodmares.

now that part i think isnt necessarily bad..i think gender roles are a good thing, most of the time.

Well said.

Duggar Dad was also a congress man or senator or state rep, something along those lines.

He ran for state rep I think but was defeated. I saw that show when they told the story. He was too nice of a guy for politics. Too smart too.

I am suprised with all those kids they haven't got a couple wild ones. It amazes me that she's able to give all those kids equal enough attention to avoid having them acting out all the time..you know how kids get when they feel forgotten or not loved as much...

we went to breakfast on Easter and my brother, Robbie, was playing a game with my nephew, Chris(other brothers son). Robbies daughter, Kamryn, got jealous within a few minutes and started going"beep beep" and acting like she was pushing bottons like Chris

like "daddy, look at me, i can too!" it was too cute.

I would rather see the Duggars get a tax break than some of the high falutin' TV churches. Have a real problem with that. I think they want their girls to support their husbands in whatever business venture they undertake, like the oldest son's wife is doing with their car sales business. I think we have become so atuned to a girl being able to do what she wants, when she wants, and not have to depend upon ANYONE (and don't think I don't tell this to my GD's on a regular basis, because I do) that its a shock to see someone actually encouraging the daughters NOT to go to college or further their education. But, those kids all play a musical instrument, and not just a clarinet either. . . harp, violin, and there is something else I can't think of it seems like . . .and we don't see them sloughing off on their practices and stuff like most of our kids would try to do on occasion . . .I just admire them for sticking to their beliefs no matter what. I know they do support and go on seminars with a real high end financial advisor, and their finances are done by the Bible which I thought was very interesting. You can go to their website and see more about this and actually order the study guide on this financial plan. It's just over a $100 I think.
