Doesn't look like a cockerel to me. The males have a very distinct pattern in comparison to the females

Yes. That's one of the most gorgeous glw cockerel I've seen but it is a cockerel

I guess the back of the picture was a bit blurry the first time so I missed the budding saddle feathers coming in. That's seriously some of the best lacing I've ever seen on a male glw

Usually the lacing is messier/incomplete, and the wings are noticably darker than the chest. You can start to see his wings are darkening up in the latest pic but can't really see it at all in the first one. Crazy. Those pics are only a week apart?!

I agree, it is a young male. He's gorgeous though.
