STILL NO EGGS!

The waiting is killing me! I have 7 pullets that are 19 weeks and 6 leghorns that are 15 weeks.... they are ALL squatting and their combs and wattles are redder. But still no eggs!

I wish there was a way to make them start. Oh, well... tomorrow is another day, right? Maybe tomorrow I'll be

but tonight I am still

Join the egg waiting club. Mine oldest are 19 weeks, and no eggs. I have NHR, and WPR. They are HUGE, and the rooster has been doing his thing. The cluck like hens, but no egg song. Ugh! HURRY UP CHICKENS!!!

I know, i felt the same way and still do. The norm is 20 to 24 weeks. Thats what they say anyway. I have 4 EE's laying and they started at 18 weeks old so your girls should start laying any time. I noticed my girls going in and out of the nest...checking things out and then within a few days...eggs.

I have wheat straw in the box. It's what I've always used for the other hens. The girls have been checking it out for weeks now. I put the nest box in when I noticed my BO's comb getting redder about 2-3 weeks ago. I kind of expected the EEer's to take longer, and the leghorns are still a little young, but I've been waiting for the RIR, BO, and the BR to start anyday with as red as their combs have been. Especially with all the squatting going on! I can't even walk past a girl without her dropping into a squat it seems.

I guess I'm just jealous when I see first egg posts at 15.5 weeks or 17-18 weeks. I know, I know... Patience is a virtue (one I've never had LOL)

Make sure that they are getting laying mesh with at least 16% protin. my first hens did not like the pellets last year and I swear they did not lay till I started them on layena mesh from Purina (crumble)
