19 weeks...finally worth it all!!

Congratulations!! I sure wish mine would start laying they are 20 weeks old now.

I still smile with every egg I gather. Up to 6 (usually) and once 8!

As I walk through the "compound" of coops (they're small and the chickens have favorite nest boxes to use), I thank the girls for their gifts.

It was great when I was just eating them, then even more cool when I started to sell some, and now that I've got a new broody hen sitting on some, it's just grand!

I have shipped eggs (for breeds to add to the flock) in incubators, and after having had some hatch, each and every egg is sheer wonder to me.

All this in MY back yard!

My first Egg on 9/8. Laid by a RIR (19 weeks 2 days). Today I got 2 eggs from my RIR's. Means both of my RIR's are now laying for sure. I have a Barred Rock and 3 Buff Orphs that will be 21 weeks tomorrow. Maybe they will start laying next week.

i have to agree. my girls are just amazing to me...and they do it so naturally. thank you all for your best wishes. sometimes i feel alone with my happy chicken thoughts. i feel at home here. 3 days later...i'm still smiling!!! and i got a double yoke this morning for breakfast...first of many i'm sure.

My eggs are beautiful brown...and i'm 99% positive that its my 2 NewHampReds that are laying them. I have 3 JerseyGiants but they dont seem to be going back to the coop as much as the reds. Guess i better start looking under the bushes!! lol
