I’m planning to hatch raise some chicks soon so I’m trying to thin down my flock a bit by selling (or if it comes to it, butchering) a few birds I can live without. All these birds are from last year, they are just under 1 year old and hatchery quality. They are used to free ranging. From what I can see they are all happy and healthy, I do not believe I’ve had any sickness in my flock unless I was unaware of it.
I’ve got a well behaved BJG rooster who is good with the girls, my dogs/cats, and children. That being said, he is not one to be picked up and cuddled but he will eat out of my hand. He’s was my spare rooster in case something happened to my blue copper over winter so he is used to being second in command. I can’t say for sure how he would act as the boss but from what I’ve seen he’s a good fella.
Then I have 2 BJG hens, both are laying. One is a curious little thing the other is a bit standoffish but as you can see, she’s fine with my dog.
And lastly I have prairie blue bell who I’m not sure is laying and if she is then they must be brown. I’ve never seen her in a nest box or being bred by a rooster. She’s small and flighty but likely to be that one that just keeps on surviving. I can see her being that one hen who disappears then shows up with a brood of chicks a month later.
Asking for a fair price for young adult birds. I’d prefer to have them all go as a group and be picked up from my house as I do not have a good way to transport them. Zip code 48888
