~1st Annual southwest VA Chickenstock updated with pics

I dunno -- can't we call it a BYC Chickenstock? Wouldn't that take care of the "club" thing? The 17th of October should work for me -- I can't do the 24th.

I might have:

Some mixed pullets, some mixed bantam roos, some mixed standard roos, 2 ISA brown pullets, a gold laced wyandotte pullet, a partridge wyandotte pullet (all should be laying), 3 mature Australorp hens, a Gold Sebright roo, a Dark Brahma Bantam roo, maybe some 4 mo. old muscovies, might bring some small goats for a friend...and some miscellaneous roos. And some hatching eggs -- Delawares, GC's (hybrid here, not eggs from golden comets), barred rock, maybe some others.

Looking for:

Who knows? A mini-rex buck (rabbit), a nicely dispositioned Buckeye roo

I'd be interested in that. I'm just outside Hillsville but haven't been here long enough to have met any chicken people yet. Wonder what happened to the Galax group? I bet the extension service would know the how to's.

We've been talking about getting an actual club together for this area, and what all it would take to get started.

So far we've had one request for the 24th of oct, one unable to attend the 17th or the 24th, and one more unable to do the 24th.
I know its halloween but if we have it around lunch time, wonder if that would be a batter date??

I say shoot for Halloween.
Lets start at 11:00 that gives folks who are driving a few miles time to get there without getting up in the middle of the night. lol

PP, any chance you could call and get someone to confirm before your meeting on the 4th? Then folks would be able to know for sure and I could get the flyers ready and sent out to non BYCers.

If we arent as organized as Shelley and the Central KY folks, could we just have everyone bring their own picnic stuff?

Maybe for Spring we could do a BBQ?

I will also take pre-orders for Barred OEGB straight run and Mille Fleur D'Uccle straight run.

2$ a chick

Will put them in the bator this week so you will have week old chicks at the time of the swap.

PM me.

Had some interest from folks who might be needing to find accomodations as the trip is long.

I cant accomodate humans...lol...but I can accomodate any stock that you are bringing if you need to put them up for a night.

My flock is nearly NPIP certified and AI clean.

We can just put your crates in the barn near my breeding pens and they would be nice and cozy for the evening.

Let me know.

I can also help make human arrangements at inexpensive hotels in the area.

We have a rodeo This Sat so I can ask then. I'll send you the Directions we put on the flyers for the show. I know this sounds crazy but no one actually knows the physical address up there..LOL

We'll shoot for Oct 31st then, at 11:00 To say what time?? 2 Maybe

I'd say this time we'll just do the meet have a few door prices for BYC memebers, I may have a guy that I work with interested and he can come and set up he sales hot dogs with some pretty darn good chili, baked goods and drinks reasonably priced. See how it goes this time and then we can plan all winter for the spring one..I'll ask him today at work if he can do it.

Alrighty PEEPs looks like this is goin to happen Oct 31 starting at 11:00am
Start posting your wants and haves and I'll add them to the original post
Also if you have any ideas on things we haven't thought of let me know.
Thanks!!!

WELCOME TO SOUTHWEST VA's 1st Annual Chicken Stock!!!
