now i am in panic mode.she is chirping like crazy. i have 9 other eggs still.do i remove the shell? this is too cool my 1st time hatching. i have read a bunch but i am still in a panic.do i just leave the top on till tomorrow?

ok i will but tough not to look.there are plastic windows but too dark to see her.

It's so tempting but it could affect the other chicks in the incubator. The humidity could be affected and the membrane might dry slightly an stick to the chick inside the egg. The chick should be fine in there with them. I've heard of ppl leaving them in the incubator for 2-3 days

i am leaving it alone.actually i think this one is a day early its 21 days from the day i put the eggs in . i read the first day really dont count since the egg isnt up to temp. i can see her with a small flashlight through the window. she is all over the place in there and very noisey.i love it. i hope to see more tomorrow

I too am on day 21 ;-) this is my 2nd incubated batch.
Question.... I have the yellow auto egg turning holders, I just unplugged it on day 18. Should I have taken the eggs out of the turners? or just leave the eggs sitting straight up in them? I have 2 cracked eggs & some chirping since 8am this morning, they havent made any progress in 7 hours...

well seeing this is my 1st time take what i say as that. i took the turner trey out and put water soaked dish towels on the bottom. now i have a friend that hatches hundreds of eggs, her incubater is the size of a small fridge. she just stops the turning unit.so i think you are ok. i havnt had another hatch today .i am paranoid to open the unit . the one in there is walking all over already .we dont have kids so its the next best thing i am excited. we also have donkeys and seen 3 born plus a few goats .its awesome to watch mother nature.

I’d leave it alone at this point. You’re likely to do more harm than any good to try to take it out. To me, the big advantage of taking the turner out is that it will get all slimed by the hatching chicks. Taking it out makes clean-up easier.

Some people hatch with them upright in egg cartons and seem to do OK.
