I’ve developed a lump in my throat reading your posts about your little EE. 😞 I have 2 EE, one being my ultimate favorite out of all 13 babies I have. I’m sending you good vibes.:hugs
Thank you, yes they are really special birds with an amazing personality. She will be and is truly missed.

If alpha killed her there should have been some blood or feathers. Have they showed any sign of being sick?
I'm sorry to hear.
No they were all healthy, it was a heart attack most likely. Vet did find some traces of drying blood and a significant spot under her eye. It was dark/midnight when we found her, at bedtime for us last check. I've honestly not looked inside the coop today, hubby said not to, and he handled it when we got home.

So sorry about the loss of your favourite hen. :hugs If you made a mistake, it was an honest one. Don't beat yourself up about it (although I know that is hard). Now you will know for next time and can help other new chicken keepers make informed decisions when they find themselves in a similar situation.
Thank you so much, and I truly appreciate the positive spin at the end of your note. *hugs*

What exactly did you feed her?
What feed and what treats?
When we first got them 17 weeks ago they got Purina medicated chick starter. Then at 12 weeks they got put on Chick-Grow-Lay that we buy from our reputable feed store, where we buy all our food from. (I also ALWAYS check the dates on the tags). Treats have been watermelon rinds with some pink still on them, strawberries, apples, finely shredded carrots. They had access to chick grit 1 week before they were put outside, and kept on that until the bag was half empty. The guide on the back said to change them over to the larger grit now, so we did that just today. I also just started offering the oyster shell today too, as two should start laying in around 10 days, and the other in 17 days.
