1st egg!!! I am so excited!

So here it is! Lucy, my Americana hen laid the 1st egg! The whole hen house including the rooster were cheering her on! Wow! That was fun!!! I put up these pretty lace curtains yesterday so that must have done the trick.... lol!

Try putting up a lace curtain around their nest box...... lol! funny I did that yesterday..... maybe they were just waiting for a little privacy....

how old are your chickens? What kind do you have? how many?

I have 12 Isa Browns that will 14 weeks on friday. I'm hoping they will like some of the isa browns that I have been reading about that lay super early. I have a couple that are acting restless and starting to turn red in their combs. They keep wanting to check out the nest boxes by getting on the edge but I have boards in them blocking them off. I am thinking about getting them ready just in case but don't want them to be like "hey look mom just gave us a new place to nap during the day". Lol I watched one this morning when I went to let them out, she wanted to be by herself which was odd for her and kept hanging on on the floor under the nesting boxes and singing the egg song. Then later she was acting all fine again. I think they are just trying to get me all psyched for eggs and give me none. Haha

oh wow!!!! my chicken laid her 1st egg about a month ago, her name was lucy 2! only she was a black bantam cochin! i am so happy for you!

i hope you get alot more eggs from her in the future!

Plus being a chicken newbie, when I do find my first egg, the whole world will probably know. Hahaha I will be one happy chicken momma!
