1st hatch lockdown- Did I mess up?!

I'm just shakin my head. Can't even imagine the thinking behind that!. :barnie
I have a fasination with how it all works and I will admit when I first started hatching it was really hard to keep my hands off them and I probably killed a few before I learned what they need but it mostly comes by learning from mistakes. She had no interest in helping those chicks. If they didnt hatch when SHE wanted them too then there must be something wrong with them. There was something wrong but it was with her.

Yea, I have limits, understand both sides of the coin, but seramas are notorious for not being able to hatch without assistance. I have many that wouldn't have survived! Some of my best ones! If i help and it shouldn't have hatched, I'll deal with it. But i can't just....ewwww ....crush an egg.. Yuck! Why not just toss them.

I cant seem to stop my seramas from sitting ! LOL I do pull them as they hatch I just got 16 about 3 weeks old now. . Lost heat on them twice and lost one. Now one has an injured leg and not sure what I want to do. Its a roo.

So sorry you lost one. They are a bit fragile young, but i find them pretty hardy once they feather in well. Mine sleep outside, up high on a perches. I tried putting them inside, they still come out so i let them be. Lol

They are broody little beasts for sure too. I had one trying to sit until this evening, she was finally off the empty nest. She'll be back in a couple days, but only one in that pen is laying right now and she lays in another box.
Also got a new layer from my silkied serama pen yesterday and today. Two sisters, I think. :D
