What do you mean by pip and zip when eggs are hatching? I know it must be shell related but just want to be in the know. Thanks ahead

Pip is when the chick first pops a small opening in the egg. Sometimes it may be 12 to 24 hrs until anything happens. Zipping is when the chick starts to peck his way around and open up the egg, usually starting where the first pip is. I've had some pip and zip in minutes and some over a day later.

YAY!

Keep us all updated! And, you must know .... we really love pictures!

Pip .... the first dent or hole in the egg, that you will see.
Zip .... when the chick, "zips," around the egg (like a zipper), before popping out of the shell!
