Candy is a doll! She's a bantam to boot?! OMG, that just makes her twice as adorable

Thank you, Iced Mocha!

Yeah, Candy's kind of special to me. In the Yahoo Group for Milled Fleur Cochin (MFC) breeders, there are a number of us who are quite smitten with the ones with the white bachground. A few of us are actually starting a secondary project breeding for the white background with the tri color markings. We call them our "Candy Corn Cochins"! ;-)

This is the rooster that Candy was bred to for this batch of eggs:

He's molting right now so not looking his best but I'm very excited about the potential for their offspring!

And this is my very favorite picture of Candy. It cracks me up every time I look at it!

Gotta keep those fancy feathered feet dry!

Hey Stranger!
I don't know how to find this thread (without wading through page after page of others!) unless someone updates! I've been thinking of you and wondering how your eggs are doing? Is your temp staying steady? Do you candle? I tried at day 8 but can't tell anything. Of course, I really don't know what I'm supposed to see! I read the candling thread and looked at the photos but it's a lot different looking at an egg, sitting on the end of a flashlight in the basement with the lights off! ;-)

The weight loss tracking is going well ~ so far they are right on track. Now, if there are just some babies in there!

I have found my temp a little low on a couple of occassions. Last night when I checked it read 98.7. I turned it up a notch but wondered how long it had been low...

Did I tell you the Daddy of these chicks is sick? I'm caring for him in a 'hopsital' cage and he seems to be hanging in there but I so desperately want to see chicks from this mating!

Are there REALLY still 2 more weeks to wait?

................sigh..................

I got a call from my DH a short while ago, telling me that the temp in my LG had gone up to 102.3. He said it had been that high for about an hour. There's no telling how long it had been since he checked it.

I've been doing pretty good keeping the temp between 99 and 101. I bought the still air LG and put a computer fan in it. It has been keeping the temperature pretty stable as long as the temperature in my house is stable. And that has been the problem.

The house temperature dropped this morning into the mid 60s and I had to turn up the temp in the LG because it had dropped to 97.5. Of course, I had to leave for work before the house temps returned to normal. Here's keeping my fingers crossed that this spike doesn't hurt my babies.

My girls have pretty much quit laying and I'm down to 1-2 eggs per day from 10-11 a couple of weeks ago. And my EE's have stopped laying altogether. This may be my only chance to hatch eggs until spring.

The only ones who came out from this horrid hatch - 4 tiny little Buttons.
The blue round things in the last 2 pics are water bottle caps.
