Thanks. The first thing I discovered in my research is there are plenty of opinions on this subject.

I finally made up my mind to do it this way and see what happens. I would have liked to have covered the entire run with 1/2" hardware cloth but budget did not allow for that. I felt like the chicken wire/welded wire combo was the second best choice.
