Seriously they get stuck on stupid. Dont try to chase them in, it dont work all that happens is, you get as wet as they are and you get Irritated, not worth it. They are dumb. some will try to find shelter but pretty much if it starts to downpour thats where they stay.

When it rained, I checked. I think the chicken thought it was night since there was less light. Well, I say them sitting in the coop, so...

Is there a ground cover that is helpful to keep it fairly dry in rain?

Sand?
Wood Chips?

???

That's the way I felt. I had to do something to show them I cared. I probably should have eaten the oatmeal.

I will need it for the strength to clean up the yard today.

Thank goodness, the rain slowed down yesterday and stopped before nightfall. They had a chance to dry out before I had to lock them up. I was afraid that they would have to be put to bed wet. Or worse, I might have to bring them in for the night.

OMG… the thought of that.... Four very large, muddy birds preening and drying off in the kitchen. I think I have just lost my mind.

I throw pine shavings all over the run after a rain only to keep their feet clean. Works great and it absorbs the water pretty well too.

I never have heard of rain killing a chicken. If they are out in it, they are enjoying it.

Mine don't mind a mist, but they stay out in it long enough to look like they've been in a downpour. Doesn't seem to bother them much. Now snow...they won't stick a toe out the door if it's snowing!
