1st time Broody... Questions...

I will give her an infertile egg today and see if she will take it.

She is hopeless. I gave her an egg 2 days ago and she had been on her nest everytime I checked her. I was going to put tge incubator eggs under her today and remove the infertile one. When I lifted her, there was no egg. I felt around in the dirt... no egg.

I give up. Maybe when the chicks hatch I can stick them uner her. But she definitely is a terrible hatcher

I have very broody hen that I just put incubator eggs ready to hatch under her. She has never had a brood of her own will she be okay since she has only sat on them for a day???

I am not sure as usually hens are broody for 3 weeks or more. She may hatch them and not be ready to be a momma. It all depends on the hen. Some are natural broody's and great Mamas. Others like my current broody are a bit "special". Good luck. I hope it works out!
