1st time in the coop

It will be for a small flock. Thinking maybe 8-10. Not familiar with the weather yet, as I'll be a new resident of Eastern Oklahoma soon. People have said light snow and mostly rainy and humid. I'm in the early stages, still researching to make sure I'll have a good start and proper setup.

Welcome to BYC . With mine it depended on their feathers and weather. I like the brooder in coop as you want to train them coop is a safe home. My chicks feathered out but had a cold spell and they stayed in for an extra week which really helps them go to coop at bedtime later. I know you'll be anxious to let them out if coop on nice days but don't be in a hurry cause trying to get them back in at night IS A BUGGER.! :wee :bow:hitSpend time with them, get them used to you being treat master, talk to them etc. I gave mine scrambled eggs out of my hand and at 1 year old they still like to eat out of my hand.

Welcome ~ Hello Neighbor ~ I'm right next to you on the Red River. It will be hot, some rain and humid until the end of September then windy, getting cooler around October 10, it is rainy time shortly after that date. Have some 250w heat lamps put back for your flock. I feel we will have a cold Winter this December. I just hatched twenty chicks they are a week old and are in the barn now. The middle of October I will let them out of their safety cages as I have older chickens. Best wishes!
