1st timer question-Chick still attached to egg, dragging it around

This is not only my 1st hatch but my 1st post. Hi!

I have gained a lot of knowledge and done much research on this site! You guys are a library of info and I love it!!!!

My incubator eggs started hatching yesterday, a little late (day 24) but still hatching. 3 pipped yesterday and 1 was breech (died) and the other 2 hatched early this morning. Then 3 more pipped this morning and 2 have hatched this evening. The 4th egg to hatch kind of came out wonky. Almost like it unzipped halfway and then struggled to push itself out the side. That may be normal, I have no idea. Anyway, it really seemed to have a rough time, so it rests a lot, on its back. The 3/4 egg shell is still attached to its naval, so when it gets up and tries to move around, it gets flipped and even more wore out. Will this eventually snap off? Am I worrying over nothing? I know it needs to rest, and I know there is really nothing I can do. It just seems so bad that it keeps falling asleep on its back because it just can't get up with the shell attached.

Anyone?

I just checked again, most of the umbilical is now off, only being held by a tiny thread. It is sleeping, on its belly like it is supposed to, so I can't really tell if it is attached or not. I guess it's better than it was =)

I would still love anybody's suggestions or advice! Now I truly understand the phrase 'nervous as a hen on chicks'!

If your hatch is done,( meaning that there are no more eggs to hatch) and if the imbilical is all dried out...looks like a thin dark tread. You could take the chick and shell out and clip it close to the shell.
BUT!!! if it still looks like a vein leave it or it will bleed out

it still looks wet, and my hatch is not done. I will leave it be. Did an advanced search and came up with good info as well. Should have done that 1st, but was in panic mode =/. I appreciate your help and advice! Thank you! =)

i have a case close to this, if not the same... the chick bottom have been struggling to open the egg but could not, after some time i decided to help him and found out that the shell is stuck on him... however i managed to remove the shell but was stunned to find out that the inner side of the shell still have red vein vessels and the bottom of the chick is connected to it... I wonder what should I do... note that i did leave the shell and leave the chick attached to it... maybe after sometime the vessel will drought or so....
