Hens go broody when you don’t want them to… and won’t go broody when you do. 
I am getting chicks for the first time today (but I have had chickens before, just not chicks). I have built a large brooder and will be using the red heat lamp. I live in central Indiana. Can I keep the brooder in the garage? Evening temps fall to the 40s, but the garage usually goes no lower than 50. Will they be okay?
