We got our first chicks two weeks ago from a friend who ordered a surprise box from a hatchery. We live on 14 acres with 2 children, 3 dogs, 2 steers, 1 cow and our first flock of 13 chicks, they are now 2 weeks and 3 days old. We have had little to no problems with our chicks thus far they up graded from a indoor brooder to being in a hutch outside. Not sure yet what all breeds of chickens we have yet.
