I have a one year old hen that has a mass in her abdomen. It's putting pressure on her lungs because of the fluid retention. She has not drank in 2wks but I've been giving her fruit etc that have water in it, she can walk but slowly. She's bright eyed and eating. Any ideas and help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Can you see the mass or any enlarged lower abdomen? It is hard to know what the mass might be, but hens can suffer from cancer, lash egg masses, and internal laying, as well as ascites from various causes. Can you try to keep her comfortable and offer some wet chicken feed mash, and a little scrambled egg or tuna? I have also used canned cat food in small amounts to tempt one to eat. Do you have a vet who would see her?

The mass is on the inside. Took her to the vet. Everyone is scratching their heads on what to do etc. And what it is. I'm keeping her comfortable. Havent tried the tuna or scrambled egg yet. Thank you.
