Last night they all got on their roost. Today I go down to collect eggs and a chicken layed there dead next to, but not in the nesting box.

No Intruders. She seemed fine yesterday. The rest of the birds seem fine today.

Recent changes:
4 days ago they got a lot of hard corn for the first time when mother inlaw came over
2 month ago a Dominique (no clue if same one) had a limp that healed in a week

All time facts:
They get all of our leftovers, no questions asked
Plenty of room, fresh water, clean coop

My guess of issue:
We get an egg everyother day that has calcium deposits on it. Rough feeling. Wierd shapped sometimes. Again only one of them have this problem. Again not sure which one. If I get one of these eggs tomorrow it will prove me wrong.

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

What do you feed them other than table scraps?
Roughly how much of their diet is scraps? Table scraps are treats, and treats should make up no more than 10% of the diet, much less in the case of unhealthy foods like assorted human food.

They eat layer feed from he local mill..I would say they get a large handful of leftovers from the family a day split between 9... I mean 8 now ;( ...chickens. I would say it's their snack. Low percentage.

I could be wrong but I am hoping it's the chicken that has weird calcium bumped eggs. The rest lay normal large eggs.

I would even say the buckeyes and the golden laced wyandottes are the more aggressive chickens getting the leftovers quickest from our dinner table. I would say all the Dominique's barely get any they are always behind and less dominant

I don't think I'm going to unless I start losing a more chickens but what would I look for if I open her up?
It's hard to know what you are looking for if you don't know.
IF you could open her up I was going to suggest taking a lot of pictures and posting them here so we could tell you if we see anything off.
