I have two Japanese Coturnix Isabelle quails.
A white and a golden one.
The white started laying some days ago and has been having some struggles.
Yesterday I found two eggs but I didn't know if they all came from her because she layed two shell-less eggs too with a normal egg alone in one day.
I'm gonna give her calcium just in case.
She's been making complaining noises for a long time after laying. I'm keeping an eye on her.
Today, I let them roam free in the living room and when I came back to look for some poo to clean in the floor what I found instead was an egg under the couch
So the golden quail has started laying! I weighted her right after and she lost 15g so it's definitely her.
The egg she layed in comparison with the ones the white layed is so big. 14g. Omg so much for a first or second egg, right?
It's so cool it looks like a planet!
The golden seems to lay such bigger eggs. Although she also weights more. For some reason the white is 220-235g and the golden is 255-265g. I wonder if it has to do with the color.
I guess the white one will lay bigger egg with time too.
