I did this before and learned my lesson...BUT my 1st two sat seperate just in same quarters and they fought over everything after chicks hatched and my one momma hurt the other momma :/ BUT...

This time...I tried EVERYthing I could to separate and give these two mommas (sisters from last years hatch) their own space and they wanted to sit together...they have both been "protecting" all the eggs together so what are my chances they will play nice fare hatch?

I've had broodies share nests and chicks with success in the past, so it can be done, but it really depends on the hens and if they are willing to get along and share.

K tku, guess it's just a wait and see...they have been together since 1st sitting and share pretty nicely (it's actually funny watching them sort them out when one gets up) so here goes nothing on hoping that continues ones they realize what all this sitting gets them...just don't want blood shed and ICU time like last time. Haha but I have my other momma in broody coop so no more room! 11 hens and 3 go broody

I had two broodies co-hatch once. They were not bonded like your though, they just were constantly trying to steal each others eggs. I also tried everything to keep them on their separate nests with the exception of placing them in separate pens, I did not have another safe place to separate them to. After three weeks of hopping nests, only one chick hatched. Both hens raised that chick. It was so funny watching them compete for the chicks attention. She was one over-mothered little girl.

Haha, that's sad but cute...I just went out and checked on them and they were just a snuggled together...when I candled there eggs, I've only candled once and only took 3 with me...all the had something in them but they nicely just tuck them into wherever they can't and don't fight over any...I just hope they're all getting turned properly bc there butting up so close...my OCD is like HOPEfully they would know if any odd man out was in there crevices somewhere lol

We will see though...there doing great at "this" job so far. We will see how the mothering goes
