i have a broody whos been sitting for 2 1/2 weeks, so her eggs will be nearing hatching the end of this week....anyhow every day for the last 8-10 days a silkie has been laying in the same nest, but ive been removing her eggs....but the silkie has decided the nest is hers and scooted in next to the other hen. i pick her up and lock her out but next time i take a peek shes back in there.
im worried if i let her sit shes gonna steal the chicks as they hatch or start fighting with big momma....
how do i break a broody silkie?
i even tried moving her to another nesting box with 'warm' eggs..but nope, she wants this nest
i tried the wirecage for 2 days and thought i broke her broodyness, the next day i found her back in the nest
argh!
