I have 2 broody hens - one is due in 1 week, while the other is due in 3 weeks. They are separate from the other hens, but are housed next to each other. Will the sound of peeping from the first hen's chicks make the 2nd hen think that she is done with her job and possibly abandon her eggs? Should I put them out of earshot from each other or can they tell the difference?

I have 2 to 4 hens sitting on eggs side by side in nest holes out in the coop, they dont leave their nest when the hen next to them hatches her eggs, some act like they may want too, but as soon as I get the hen and peeps moved, they are all fine...............

Oh, good. That sounds encouraging - I really didn't want to lose the entire batch because of hen #2's misplaced motherly instincts.
