2 Broody Seramas, 1 nest box

So we have 1 chick and the other egg has failed to get any further along than it was days ago. I have given up on it. The 2 moms are taking care of the chick in the plastic tote. This morning I took the top off for a while. One mom jumped out for a bit and then was pecking at her sister through the see thru tote. Then she jumped back in the box where they began a sparring match. I lifted them both out to save the chick from being trampled. They continued an all out hen pecking chest bumping party. I let them go since they were not really hurting each other. One finally backed down and the other jumped back in the box with the chick.

Then, the other jumped back in with the other and they went back to co-parenting like nothing happened.

I did candle the egg. I am waiting for my daughter to send me the pix from her phone. In the meantime here's some pix of the 3 of them in the box. In the middle pix, it's hard to see Dumpling and the chick since their coloring blends so well with the shavings. Look for Dumplings red comb to pinpoint where her head is. The chick should be next to it.

So last nite they came out of the box to eat with Keanu (dad) Then Dumpling goes back in and sits on the chick. Not to be outdone, Kiki goes in and tries for the chick. Dumpling would not give an inch so Kiki did the next best thing and put her whole front body under Dumpling to get to the chick. They stayed like that for a long time.

Here's the candling of the last egg:

I have no idea how that emoji replaced the ”th” in the word “the”
If I was going to use an emoji it would have been this one: :celebrate
PS: Correction: dad doesn’t roost with them. He goes high above them where they all roosted pre- chick.
