2 chickens, 1 not laying😢

WB Chicks

In the Brooder
I got 2 baby chicks last April for Easter for my friends grandsons...ages 4&2....without asking parent. Thinking this would be a good idea and fun for the boys to learn to care for animals... NOT!!!!
They are now my chickens!!! 1white Light Brahma and 1 GoldLaced Wyandotte. It has been a fun learning curve for me. FYI....I think I have each egg cost down to $45!!!
Cooney, the Wyandotte, started laying around Sept 27 and Peepers around Oct 12. Peepers stopped laying the end of Jan. Any suggestions?
These chickens have really been fun. Never had chickens before. Been a real experience. Am working on my 3rd run/coop for them now. Have really enjoyed the forum as well as reading the Chick book.

Yeah, not a good idea. :gig

it is normal for chickens to slow down or stop laying at this time of the year.
No, days lengthening now should be jumps rating more laying.
Feather loss(molting) happens from late summer into winter(in the northern hemisphere).

Oh, and....
Where in this world are you located?

I don't know, chickens are strange. I have an olive egger that started laying around September last year. A month later she stopped (well before winter hit) and didn't start laying again until a week ago! I have a Speckled Sussex that is 2 years old and didn't lay any eggs at all, but today she was in the nesting box so I hung around and saw the little freeloader lay an egg! So, what is normal for most chickens may not be normal for your girl. Unless there is underlying disease of some sort, you just never know!!! If she is eating, drinking and pooping normally, and acting like her normal self she may just be weird! :D
