this morning I found one of my 3.5 month old hen dead in the coop. Nothing got in and she was up with the others when I locked them up. After I let them out this morning, I noticed that one of my girls went straight to hide under the deck and fall asleep. Two hours later I walked outside and she was dead. There’s been no signs of any of them being sick no sneezing, coughing, discharge from eyes or beaks they’ve all been eating and drinking fine. I recently just put down more barn lime in the coop because we have a mite problem, but it happens every year around this time I have coffee grounds and barn lime around the roost on the floor of the shed and then eco flakes where they nest. It hasn’t been too hot and they get a variety of kitchen scraps once to twice a week. I’ve just never had two chickens die from unknown causes before so if anybody has any insight, that would be great.
