2 Chickens now laying eggs!!!!

Yay! My Barred Rock laid her first egg for me on Christmas Eve and has been giving me an egg a day, and now our Buff just laid her first egg today! Woo hoo! I'm so excited to have fresh eggs every day now!

.... I guess it's time to make some pound cake (takes 8-9 eggs) to use up that 18 pack of eggs I just got at the store last week! LOL

Congratulations!! Yes, use up those store bought ones, and I hope it'll be a long time before you have to buy more

I so know what you mean! My gals just started laying last week too and now 3/8 of them are laying as of yesterday. I have *one* store egg left, but decided to eat the very first egg (laid on the 30th) for breakfast on NYD-a great start to the New Year and super delicious. I suppose I'll just have to make pancakes with that one lonely store egg this morning for my kids...

Part of it is so surreal to have your own fresh eggs and not have to buy any!
