thank you for the note on Silkies but so many recommended Orpingtons that I have a order in for 6 blue Orpingtons. should be here next week. I did show my wife a picture of a silkie and she wants those too.

Although they are not very cold hardy, I like silkies. They are very docile and sweet. Mine love human interaction. Plus they are small so maybe you could have more than 2. The roosters have a pretty soft crow, it's less offensive than others. My hens lay well, although it takes 2 of their eggs to equal 1 regular size egg. Good luck to you and your wife. She will greatly enjoy any chickens you decide on. Warn her that they are addictive!
